Translations into Albanian
Albanian forms a branch of the Indo-European language family. During the 400-year reign of the Turks, the native language and culture in Albania was almost completely suppressed.
Today there are two main dialect groups: Gheg and Tosk. The modern written Albanian language was developed in the mid 20th century on the basis of the Tosk dialects. The vocabulary includes many loanwords from Latin. In recent history, numerous words were added from Bulgarian, Greek, Italian and Turkish.
